Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, known throughout the world simply as “Amma,” has dedicated her entire life to helping the poor and suffering and uplifting spiritual seekers through her teachings of love, compassion, selflessness.
At the request of followers, Mata Amritanandamayi has been travelling annually to Europe since 1987, holding programs wherein she delivers spiritual talks, leads devotional singing, guides people in meditation and offers her darshan—a blessing in the form of a heartfelt motherly hug. Inspired by Mata Amritanandamayi, people throughout Europe are participating in charitable activities managed by Embracing the World, Amma’s worldwide humanitarian organization.
Amma's charitable institutions founded in 1981, now encompass a vast array of charitable projects including; disaster relief, free food, medical treatment, education and vocational training for the poor. Through the example of her own life, Amma has inspired people from all over the world to walk in the path of selfless-service and compassion towards all beings.
