Amma’s Way: A Journey to Embrace the World Again portrays Amma and her humanitarian, societal, spiritual and educational work through the words of her disciples and devotees. Filmmaker Anna Agnelli was inspired by how Amma has served and continues to serve the world in a multitude of ways.
Amrita’s two UNESCO Chairs took part in the 30th anniversary of forming international collaborations between universities so that together they can share knowledge and uplift our world. Today, more than 850 institutions in 117 countries take part.
As the diverse connections fostered at this conference evolve, Amrita hopes to expand its collaborations with partners around the world.

It was in 2005 that Amma began AmritaSREE as an initiative to empower rural women to independently earn a living. This came in the wake of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami when families that depended upon fishing were completely devastated. ETW provides annual seed grants for the SHGs, as well as training in vocational trades that include tailoring, nursing, handicrafts, plumbing and electronics repair.
The property is located in the beautiful natural surroundings of Località Nebbiolo in the municipality of Gavi, Piemonte, about 60 km north of Genoa. Spread across 20 hectares, it will become a gathering place for Amma’s Italian community.
The Govt of India has appointed Amma as the Chair of the country’s Civil 20 (C20), an official engagement group of the Group of 20 (G20). India will assume the Presidency of the G20 for one year from December 1, 2022 to November 30, 2023 and host next year’s G20 Leaders’ Summit in New Delhi.
